The second wave of our Education Heresies series begins on Thursday 15 March, please join us from 4.30pm for afternoon tea before the first presentation. It will be a great opportunity for you to come back to the Faculty, meet staff and students and see old friends and colleagues.

Australia Day Honours

We congratulate the six ESW alumni who were recognised in the 2012 Australia Day Honours list: Mrs Rosalind Strong (DipEd '66, MEd '74); Emeritus Professor Brian Fletcher (DipEd '54); Mr Michael Pawley (DipEd '65); the Honourable Helen Sham-Ho (DipSW '67); Dr John Tierney (DipEd '68, MEd '73); and Ms Annette Gallard (BSocStud '82). Alumna awarded prestigious medal
Libby Gleeson AM, ESW alumna and Adjunct Associate Professor as well as our inaugural Writer-in-Residence in 2011 has been awarded the Dromkeen medal. More
10 Year Sydney Reunion
The ‘class of 2002’ from all faculties are invited to celebrate a decade since graduation at the 10 Year Sydney Reunion. It will be held on Thursday 29 March in the Great Hall from 6.30 to 9pm. Alumni from Education & Social Work who’d like to act as ‘class captains’, helping to get your friends together to celebrate, please contact Helen Loughlin.
2012 Alumni Awards
Nominations are now open for the 2012 Alumni Awards which recognise the extraordinary difference the University’s alumni make in Australia and around the world. An ESW alumna, Anne Crawford, received the Community Achievement Award in 2011 and it would be great to see another on the podium this year – so get your nominations in by 27 April. Find out more
TEN QUESTIONS
Dr Steve Georgakis is a triple-alumnus of the Faculty of Education and Social Work. He gained a Bachelor of Education (Hons) in 1994, a Doctor of Philosophy in 2000 and then a Master of Education in 2011. He is currently a senior lecturer of pedagogy and sports studies in the faculty and very active with our Human Movement and Health Education alumni.

Professional Learning

ESW’s Office of Professional Learning runs courses endorsed by the NSW Institute of Teachers and the Australian Association of Social Workers and can count towards continuing professional development requirements. The 2012 program is now online, and growing.

Human Movement & Health Education

HM&HE is offering a full day of professional learning on Friday 30 March, followed by the HM&HE Annual Reunion 5.30-6.30pm at the Grand Stand No 1 Oval, followed by drinks in Glebe and Newtown. Please RSVP to Steve Georgakis.
